What about Bob?
I have been "inventing and designing" low-cost items for recording studios like those shown here since 2000 including a "Patent Pending" stand for use with ART/dbx/Behringer/Bellari and similar small Tube Preamps.
I also provided the Marketing Director of AKG/Harmon Kardon U.S./Nashville with the concept/idea to build a lower-priced "cardioid-only" version of their highly regarded C414 Recording Microphone. After my concept came to life as the new AKG C214 Microphone, it was nominated for a "TEC" Award and is one of AKG's best selling microphones.( http://www.akg.com/site/products/powerslave,id,1080,nodeid,2,_language,EN.html ) Amazingly, AKG/Harmon Kardon doesn't acknowledge my existence.

I have been playing trombone in 1963 and guitars since 1968 and was a Professional Symphony Orchestra and an AFofM Union Hall Trombonist and have performed with Ringling Brothers and Shrine Circuses, Ice Shows, Broadway Productions, Carol Lawrence, Al Martino, George Shearing, Jerry Vale, Judy Collins, Canadian Brass, Gunther Schuler, done recording work, played in Jazz Festivals, Brass Ensembles, Big Bands, Pops Orchestras, Society Orchestras and played for President Ronald Reagan, Senators, Congressmen, Governors, Archbishops, Bishops and more. I've also had articles Published in National Music Education Association (MENC) Journals on Music and Business and Music Education Funding and am a (IMEA) Trombone and Low Brass Judge for school districts in Central Illinois.

I currently record through a Yamaha Digital Firewire Mixer into a Sweetwater Music "Rack" Recording Computer using Cubase 4/6 and IK Multimedia Total Studio Bundle.
My primary Recording Microphones are exclusively from sE Electronics. ( http://www.seelectronics.com/ )

DIY PROJECTS
DIY "$80" WORKSTATION/DESK
This is the "$80" Workstation/Desk project that I designed and built in 2004-2005 that started "HOMESTUDIOGUY.COM".
“Recording Magazine” Editors,
Lorenz Rychner and Mike Metlay, considered it for a DIY article in 2005 as they thought it was a “Hot” design, however, the instructions were too lengthy.
The design does have
that Stealth Bomber kind of look with two 12-Space Rack Bays on either "Wing" and a Video Monitor Stand.
I will have the plans for this available soon.

DIY $30 2ft X 4ft "Auralex" Acoustical Panel
Build Instructions for these are on this site.
Above is a grouping of multi-depth panels that I designed and built that utilize eight-1ft X 1ft Auralex Wedgies per panel that help with diffusion and absorption.
These types of panels are fairly common and simple to build, however, my design adds some capacity for them to act as High-Pass Filters as the Auralex Wedgies are glued to 2ft X 4ft Peg Board Panels.
I'll have plans for these on this website soon.
(Auralex Wedgies were on sale for about $2.30 each in a box of 24)

$10 DIY AUDIO-MONITOR STANDS
Build Instructions for these are on this site.
This Pair of Low-Cost DIY Audio Monitor Stands ABOVE is an easy build and can be done for just around $10.

What makes them easy to build is that
the Speaker Platform and Stand Base are both cut from 1"X12"s and the Legs and Leg Supports are cut from 2"X6"s.
This project only requires Sixteen 3-1/2 inch and Sixteen 2-1/2 inch wood screws to pull it all together.

DIY "$50" WORKSTATION/DESK
Build Instructions for this Desk are on the PURCHASE PDFs PAGE 1.
This is the "$50 Workstation/Desk" I built and designed that has been getting the most recent attention. In fact, people from all over the world have used this design their own desks! A 4-page PDF is available on the"Buy PDF Project Plans" page, for $5.99 that has adequate build information and 15 sequential color photos.
---------------------------------------------------------

Above right is a wall mounting system I designed and built for less than $10 each that keeps my 6-Owens Corning 703 Compressed Fiberglass acoustic panels about 4-inches from the studio walls which helps increase their absorption.
By NOT building a frame around them, as many do, it drastically increases their absorption factor.
After building the first 3 supports using plywood backing, I came up with an even faster and easier way build these.
I'll have PDF Plans for these available soon with that include this update.
(Someday I'll do plans for the 24-Space Rack above and below!)
