MULTI-DEPTH AURALEX PANELS
Above is a photo of 3, multi-depth, Acoustic Panels that I built, using a concept that I saw on a "Roland" Webpage, that utilizes eight-1ft X 1ft Auralex Wedgies per 2ft X 4ft panel that help with diffusion and absorption.
These types of panels are fairly common and simple to build, however, my design adds some minor capacity for them to act as High-Pass Filters as the Auralex Wedgies are glued to 2ft X 4ft Peg Board Panels.
As each panel has its own depth from the wall, it helps break up issues with flat wall surfaces and reflection.
This project requires the use 8-Auralex Wedgies per panel.
The Wedgies came in a box of 24 which was perfect for completing this 3-panel set (8 wedgies X 3 panels=24).
The price for the box of 24, on sale at the time, meant that each Wedgie cost about $2.30 each.
BUILD PHOTOS AND INFORMATION
Below are 2 photos showing the primary build concepts for my Auralex Panel Design.
In Photo 1, you can see a 2ft X 4ft peg-board panel centered and attached to a length-wise vertical 3ft long 2" X 6"*** that is attached to a length-wise vertical 3ft long 1" X 4"
In Panel Photo 2, you can see the unit shown in Panel Photo 1 with the Auralex Wedgies glued to the 2ft X 4ft peg-board panel.
*** The Vertical 2"X6" can be changed in this process to a 2"X8" or a 2"X4" to create different depths. for different panels.
BUILD PHOTO 1-Measure, Mark and Cut 2"X4" (or 2"X6" or 2"X8") to Length of 36".
BUILD PHOTO 2-Measure, Mark and Cut 1"X6" to Length of 36".
BUILD PHOTO 3-Center 2"X4" Horizontally on 1"X6" and attach initially with 2 inch finish nails then attach permanently with four 2" wood screws (see photo 5).
BUILD PHOTO 4-Center and attach Peg Board Panel to Horizontal 2"X4" with three to four 2" wood screws.
BUILD PHOTO 5-Center and attach hangar hardware to "top" of 1"X6".
BUILD PHOTO 6-Glue Four 1ft X 1ft Auralex Wedgie Panels to Peg Board as shown below then Glue Four more wedgies in opposite fashion (see photo 7).
BUILD PHOTO 7-Hang Panels as needed or preferred.
